SiteProxy is an advanced software-based system used for improving the performance and capabilities of your Internet Camera System. SiteProxy has three main functions that add value to your Pan/Tilt/Zoom Internet Camera system.

Increased Camera Capacity with Video Relay

If you host SiteProxy on a high-speed network, you can serve live video to up to 150 users. This dramatically increases the user capabilities from the typical camera system. SiteProxy offloads bandwidth-intensive video requests from your camera server and serves them from a location that has more bandwidth (and CPU horsepower). This lets you increase the number of users who can view your Internet camera at the same time.

SiteProxy conserves the bandwidth at the camera location--no matter how many people log on to the camera, if they're going through the SiteProxy, only one stream of video is being served by the camera server (which often has limited CPU and bandwidth.) This makes SiteProxy ideal for camera locations with a limited network speed.

Image Archiving with Time-lapse Capture and Retrieval

SiteProxy can be set up to record your preset images on a schedule that you define. All images are searchable via a web interface and can be displayed conveniently in your Internet browser. All images can be exported to disk with an index that includes date, time, preset number, camera number, and alarm status.

SiteProxy provides an extension to the limited on-board storage of your camera server.  Therefore, adding image capacity is as simple as installing a larger drive or routing the images to a large storage location on your network.

SiteProxy lets you review your saved images in a simple browser interface that allows you select the date and time range, and optionally which preset or alarm output you're looking for. Its easy to review your saved images and can be done from any Internet browser that supports the free Java runtime environment. (Already installed on 95% of the browsers.)

Movie clips can be recorded on demand and replayed from your browser. These short movie clips (typically under 5 minutes) can be used to record an unusual or important scene.

Increased Camera Security

SiteProxy can manage multiple camera servers. Passwords can be required for viewing, camera control, and archive retrieval. The general public (no password) can have access to selected services as well if you choose.

SiteProxy also lets you lock down the camera server to keep the general public from attempting to access the camera. SiteProxy can also acts as a gateway between a private network that has the camera and the public IP space if you want to safely allow some types of access to your camera server from the outside Internet.

With SiteProxy, the camera IP address remains private--so users never log on directly to the camera. SiteProxy can work with cameras behind a firewall and, for added security, the camera server can be set to block all other IP addresses, providing a highly secure camera system.

One problem with online cameras is the hijacking of the video feed by other webmasters who embed your video directly into their web sites. With a basic webcam server, there isn't anything you can easily do about this problem. However, with SiteProxy, a special key is generated periodically to ensure that your camera isn't being used without your permission. All of this is done automatically so that you can rest easy knowing that your camera isn't being used without your permission. 

Cross-Platform Server Software

SiteProxy runs as a Windows Service binary executable or as a Sun Java application for Windows NT, 2000 or XP. If you are running Windows, Java is not required on the server. All other operating systems that support Java can also be used, including Linux, Solaris, or OSX.  

Supported Camera Servers

Check to make sure your camera is fully supported. A NuSpectra salesperson is happy to install a test server so that you can evaluate the performance of SiteProxy before purchasing.

A static IP address is required on the machine that will run SiteProxy. It must be accessible from any browser that needs to have access to the camera. SiteProxy must also have IP access to each camera server that it is to manage.
